Welcome to Turtle Haven Dairy Goats, we are a small farm located in Northern Brown County, Indiana.  We primarily raise dairy goats and the majority of our herd is Saanen with a few Nubians sprinkled in for comic relief!! Our Saanens have bloodlines from nationally renowned herds such as Windsor-Manor, Willow-Run & Albanhaus, just to name a few.  Our goal is to breed goats that produce well and have the structural soundness which enables them to be productive well into their later years. We strive for low maintenance does with easy temperaments. We also enjoy showing the goats and we like our animals to be highly competitive in the show ring as well.  Our breeding plans, Linear Appraisal scores and show results will be listed in the fall.  Fall of 2007 we will begin taking reservations for kids. We participate in DHIA testing and Linear Appraisal and we use these tools aggressively to manage and improve our herd.

 Since our primary goal is to breed for animals that produce well, we have started a goat share program. 

Our farm also offers fresh brown & blue eggs, organic in season produce: tomatoes, melons, green beans & blackberries and natural goat’s milk soap.

We also sell seasoned firewood of assorted hardwoods. Delivery is available for firewood.

Soap making & cheese making classes are given by appointment.
 

Turtle Haven is a family affair with the care of the goats in the skilled hands of Heather Witsman,  Heather works for the Indiana State Dairy Association as a certified milk tester, maintaining an active herd listing of 12+ commercial dairy herds in south east Indiana.  Heather is also an active member & serves on the Board of directors of the Indiana Dairy Goat Association. Heather has a strong background in foodservice and sanitation with a degree form Purdue University and maintains an active food handlers’ license.
